The Prime Minister will visit Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana over five days to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance India’s role in global initiatives, particularly through participation in the G-20 Summit and the first visit to Guyana by an Indian Prime Minister in over 50 years.
I will commence a five-day diplomatic visit to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana, embracing the opportunity to strengthen our partnerships in these regions. In Nigeria, I am honored to accept the invitation of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which marks my inaugural visit to a nation that serves as a close ally in West Africa. This engagement will enhance our Strategic Partnership, founded on mutual principles of democracy and pluralism. I am enthusiastic about interacting with the Indian community there, as well as receiving the cherished greetings extended to me in Hindi. In Brazil, I will participate in the 19th G-20 Summit as a Troika member. Following India’s impactful Presidency last year, which amplified the G-20 engagement with the Global South, I look forward to continuing dialogues focused on our shared vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” This summit will also provide a vital platform for bilateral discussions with several world leaders. My visit to Guyana represents a significant milestone as it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over five decades, following an invitation from His Excellency, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. We shall explore avenues for strategic collaboration rooted in our shared heritage and cultural values. Furthermore, I will honor the legacy of the Indian diaspora, which has thrived in Guyana for over 185 years, and I will address the Parliament, engaging with a fellow democratic nation. Additionally, I will convene with leaders from Caribbean nations at the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit. This gathering aims to reinforce historical connections and broaden the scope of our cooperative efforts, continuing to stand together through challenges.
