According to Sara Hashash, the Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International, his detention reflects a violation of his right to freedom of expression, and returning him could expose him to severe human rights abuses including torture and enforced disappearance. She called for the immediate release of Al-Qaradawi and his safe travel to Türkiye or another destination of his choice.
